“Silent” seems to be the best word to describe the situation I have been through over the last 10 months. I used to be bone idle, and even felt lost in the time I lived and the place where I was present. The fear of seeing and interacting others nearly swallowed me, forcing me to step back to preserve the last piece of my soul.
Who I am? Why do I have to keep trying hard every single day? What might be the true values of mine on earth? – These are haunting questions that had been pushing me to the edge of hell.
Crawling in the dark did not kill me; instead it helped me gain true peace in my soul and realize the greatest lesson I was meant to learn in this life.
Living in a material world, no one can defy the laws of matter, yet, we must still strive for our own spiritual peace. It sounds “big”, but definitely simple. Whatever you do, whoever you are, the central interpretation revolves around “What is Given and What is Left behind”.
Can you recognize that you have been given so many things since you came into this world?
You were given a name,
You were given a family,
You were given education,
You were given a job,
You were given income,
You were given reputation, trust, dignity, and even love.
Having been given too much, humans cannot accept the feeling of loss. That is the root of why you have been working so hard and never feel like it’s enough. When you stop trying, you stop the flow of being given. These spiral loops never end. They only grow bigger and bigger from the moment you step into the trap of “working hard” for those illusions of life, accounting for human misery.
Your name will one day be forgotten,
Your body will return to the earth,
Your wealth will vanish into the air,
Your reputation will fade into the mist –
on the day you turn to ashes.
But the material world is still there and it keeps spinning anyway.
“SO WHAT” could be the puzzle everyone of us must solve for ourselves.
Life and Its Laws are definitely simple. They juggle “impermanence” and “meanings”.
Impermanence teaches you the boundaries between “enough” and “greed”, “spiritual peace” and “war”, “to be” and “not to be”.
“Meanings” motivate you to choose what to leave behind.
Legacy is what you are meant to leave to the next generations. So today, you can choose to leave them
- Profound scientific knowledge,
- A warm heart and great compassion,
- A green world for health
- or Unyielding resilience.
If yes, I reckon that you now know why you are working hard today.
Working hard to generate a precious legacy for the next generation, instead of a brutal burden, might be the answer for all of us!
Simply, for the sake of our beloved ones in the future.
