Unimaginable Beauty of Japan

Japan is widely known as one of the largest and most developed economies in the world.  It has a well-educated and industrious workforce, and its large and affluent population makes it one of the world’s biggest consumer markets.

Japan is also a dream of many tourists because of its unimaginable beauty. It is famous for its great mixture of Modernity and Tradition.  As a tourist, you cannot miss this country since you will definitely learn much from them.  Personally, Japan is one of the role models for thriving from crises, wars, and natural disasters.   I do admire the Japanese’s willpower and energy.

You can find much more information about Japan on the Internet since what I knew about Japan is quite limited. However, what I do want to share with you is the lesson I learned from my previous CEO in a daily conversation we usually had at work.

Derek:”I’m wondering why you make Japanese staff learn English and take the TOEIC test as an official mission every year.  Also, you were looking for managers who can speak English instead of Japanese.”

Shachou:” Honestly, I do not like English at all. Anyway, I would like to bring my organization to the world. i-Cube should cross the border and become international. The only thing I can do is to learn English and force my staff to learn and be able to communicate in English well. By doing that, we will be international some day.”
(* Shachou is the common way to call a director in Japanese)

His saying reminds me of a quote – ” Throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain.

Shachou is a Japanese businessman with a great love for his country and a great mindset of bringing people together to make his business grow bigger and bigger day after day.

His saying highly inspired me. I have been haunted by his words for years, and I learned that there is no pain, no gain. I cannot actually grow up and be successful as I expected if I do not dare to step out of my comfort zone.

“Grab your opportunities – Take actions – Design your future.”

Thank you Shachou – Thank you Japan. Thanks for teaching me a great lesson.  “Be Brave to Be Unique in your own way.”
